Hammargren,K.-2a Kristin Hammargren is an actor, singer, playwright, and teaching artist based in Chicago. Born and raised in Minnesota, she grew up doing musical theatre and studying voice in her hometown of Bloomington. Originally focused on singing, Kristin spent her undergraduate years discovering theatre and the art of acting. She graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI with a degree in theatre and vocal performance. Hungry for more acting training, Kristin landed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her Master of Fine Arts in Acting and began to develop her skills as an educator. Favorite roles along the way include Rosalind in As You Like It, Kayleen in Gruesome Playground Injuries, Cinderella in Into the Woods, Catherine in Proof and her original one-woman show about Jane Austen, Discovering Austen. Kristin’s professional work includes the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, American Players Theatre, Forward Theater Company, Door Shakespeare, In Tandem Theatre, Optimist Theatre, and the Guthrie Theater. In 2016 she served as a visiting faculty at Lawrence University and directed a production of Much Ado About Nothing. She currently works as the Community Engagement Manager at Writers Theatre in Glencoe, IL.
